As healthcare providers you have seen upclose the effects of the global pandemic from the medical perspective. We appreciate all that you have done and continue to do for all of us. We have also seen our state’s economy drastically drop and our once very low unemployment rate is now the highest in the nation.
Aloha United Way provides a critical service with our 2-1-1 information and referral hotline that links the community to services and programs. Right now many callers are looking to find food and financial assistance for rent, mortgage payments, utilities, elder and child care, and how to locate health insurance. The call volume met an all-time high at over 1000% increase from last year when the pandemic hit and has leveled off to 600%, creating the need for additional staff and longer hours.
With funding from our past supporters and ongoing partnerships we have helped bridge the gap with our own rent and utility assistance program while the government funds became available. With the CARES Funding, the City & County and State of Hawaii then awarded AUW, along with a few other partner agencies the ability to facilitate the application process and get the money into the hands of the people.
The need is great and we would like to ask for your help by donating to the Hawai'i Health Partners Aloha United Way campaign. Every dollar counts. Your donation will help keep local families safe and healthy.
