All across the community, COVID-19 thrust people into economic peril.
Nearly every sector has been affected by COVID-19.
We launched a COVID-19 Relief Fund in mid-March 2020 in anticipation that some in our community would need help meeting their basic needs during this global pandemic.
With the help of corporate donors, other nonprofit agencies and individuals, we have raised more than $600,000 for the fund.
More than $400,000 from that fund has already been allocated to 10 agencies who are on the front lines of community service during this time.
United Way and our partner agencies have provided resources for groceries for a woman who spent all of her income on groceries so she could practice proper social distancing. Those groceries ran out.
A woman who lost her job after two months needed groceries for her children. And a massage therapist lost her job and needed help with groceries and rent.
Those community members and thousands of others have received help through the COVID-19 Relief Fund.
