Our local nonprofits play a crucial role in helping to create a more thriving community and it's no small task! It's easy to see a mission in action when our neighbors directly benefit, such as when the nonprofits provide food for the hungry or after-school programming for kids. It's harder for us to see the full impact of the benefits nonprofits provide us. For example, when a parent has safe and affordable childcare, they can go to work without worry and help get their family into financial stability.
At Jackson County United Way, we support 20 certified community partners and their programs that fulfill our mission, while building our own programs that aid in this work. The partners we support are: Girl's Inc., Boys & Girls Club, Childcare Network, READ Jackson County, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southeast Indiana, Human Services, The ARC, Mental Health America, Anchor House, Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana, Boys Scouts of America Hoosier Trails Council, Turning Point, Salvation Army, American Red Cross, and the Senior Citizens Centers in Brownstown, Crothersville, Freetown, Medora, and Seymour.
