Finding Her Place to Give Back

Finding Her Place to Give Back
Maggie connects campus to community

Maggie knew she wanted to do something meaningful, get involved, and give back to her community – she just needed the right opportunity.

Four years ago, at an organization fair on Saint Louis University’s campus, she discovered Student United Way, a community-oriented group open to college students. She knew she’d found her match.

Now a senior, Maggie is president of SLU’s Student United Way.

Not only has volunteering allowed Maggie to find her place to give back to others, it’s given her the chance to develop her professional skills.

Through Student United Way, Maggie has tutored students in math and helped coordinate after-school activities for youth.

Being pre-med, she’s volunteered at local hospitals and currently volunteers at a senior living center on Saint Louis University’s campus. Since it’s on campus, Maggie’s able to help out often. She takes walks with residents, watches documentaries with them and keeps them company.

Because of Student United Way, Maggie has formed powerful connections between her campus and the Greater St. Louis community.
