Mother Finds Path To New Career

Mother Finds Path To New Career
Work and childcare imperative for this mother of a baby born premature.

Not too long ago, Stacy was facing some very difficult decisions in her life. The father of her three-year-old daughter wanted to seek custody of their child because Stacy was considered homeless. To add even more difficulty to the matter, Stacy's daughter was born premature, so her baby wasn't ready to go to daycare. Stacy needed to work but didn't want to leave her daughter in anyone else's care just yet. Then she found the Brighton Center, one of United Way of Greater Cincinnati's partner agencies.

At Brighton Center, Stacy had access to the Center for Employment Training and enrolled in the Medical Assistant Program. In this program, she was able to get hands-on training in a clinical setting to learn on how each medical instrument works. Stacy has her eyes set on becoming a Registered Nurse, and the Medical Assistant Program is the start of that journey.

United Way of Greater Cincinnati fights for the health, education, and financial stability of everyone in our community so that they may have an opportunity to thrive. Stacy is now able to thrive because of the services she received at Brighton Center. She is encouraged by the support of the staff at Brighton Center, and is headed toward the future she hopes to give her kids.

Stacy is one of 365,000 lives changed by United Way of Greater Cincinnati.
