Where to donate items that don’t spark joy for you

If you’re a Netflix user or have spoken to one in the past few weeks, you’ve probably heard of the popular new show Tidying Up with Marie Kondo. The reality-style show follows Marie Kondo, author and organization guru, as she helps people organize their homes by following her KonMarie method – using the premise of examining the items in your home to determine if they “spark joy” for you.

The phenomenon spread quickly – and thrift stores across the country are happy. The organizational trend has caused many Americans to purge lots of items from their homes, turning thrift stores into a picker’s paradise.

Whether you’re hoping to harness your inner Marie Kondo or just trying to do some spring cleaning, here are some of our recommendations of where to donate items locally.
