When Steve Budorick, our 2018-19 campaign chair and president and CEO of Corporate Office Properties Trust, toured United Way's Neighborhood Zone in Brooklyn, he was struck by the need for upgraded outdoor play space for the children of teen parents in our Family Center there. So, this CEO and carpentry enthusiast stepped up and volunteered COPT to lead the construction of a new playground. And he rallied a number of local companies to get involved—a group we’re proud to call our Playground Partners.
Lead partners include Plano-Coudon construction, landscape architects Floura Teeter, and Brightview commercial landscaping. These hometown heroes share a commitment to giving back to and improving the communities they serve, and the common goal of creating a healthy, safe, fun environment for toddlers in the Family Center’s Early Childhood Education Center.
Volunteers from our Playground Partner companies joined together on a beautiful June day to clear the area for construction. Scheduled for completion in early September, the playground is being designed for nature-based play.
Other partners include SYNLawn Chesapeake Bay, Live Green Landscape Associates, LLC, Country Springs Wholesale Nursery, and Fence Masters, Inc.
