United Way’s RETIRE UNITED initiative wants to keep retirees engaged in the community as you enter your second act. After years of building skills and gaining experience, retirees are in unique position to give back to Kosciusko County. This initiative can help you stay engaged and active.
Think of RETIRE UNITED as a matchmaking service. Retirees explore how they want to be involved in the community by getting briefed on community issues and meeting with organizations that need help. You begin a discovery process of figuring out which role is right for you.
The initiative is organized into 'classes' of retirees who attend a session each week for four (4) weeks to understand more about getting involved. Lunch is included with each session.
- Session #1 provides a community overview, highlights key initiatives and gets class members on their way to identifying the right opportunity for them.
- Sessions #2-4 are spent visiting organizations who share their volunteer opportunities and the challenges they are addressing.
- At the end of the class, you commit to volunteer with at least one of the opportunities and pledge to give five hours a month for the next year.
Kosciusko County needs this veteran group of citizens to address the challenges our community is facing. Join us and discover your second act.
