Hundreds of attendees representing the nonprofit, private and government sectors flooded George Mason’s Independence Hall to attend United Way of the National Capital Area’s 2019 Annual Meeting. The conference, Leading with Philanthropy, focused on addressing shifting needs in the market of the digital era. Attendees were invited to panels on the modern trends of human capital and philanthropic engagement, social media and influencer marketing, as well as a demonstration of United Way NCA’s new giving platform, Salesforce Philanthropy Cloud.
The digital era is revolutionizing the capacity of philanthropy on a global scale. Social media is radicalizing traditional means of impact, enabling greater change, faster and more efficiently than generations prior. But with all the rapid changes taking place in the market, many nonprofits in the region haven’t had the capacity to leverage the resources necessary to grow donations, volunteers and impact on digital platforms. And with all the other traffic occupying social platforms, developing the right strategy without understanding the data or trends is just shooting in the dark.
The workplace is constantly changing, contributing to a disconnect between workforce philanthropic engagement and impact in the community. However, platforms like Salesforce Philanthropy Cloud which tracks and maintains employees giving profiles offer an opportunity for nonprofits to continue to grow their base of support.
