If you have not made a gift in 2021 to United Way, now is the time to give back — and get back, too. By making a gift by the end of the year, the CARES Act will allow you to deduct up to $300 per person or $600 per couple from your taxes.

Did you know?

  • Usually taxpayers who take the standard deduction cannot deduct their charitable contributions. However, the law now permits taxpayers to claim a limited deduction on their 2021 federal income tax returns for cash contributions made to qualifying charitable organizations, which includes United Way.
  • Taxpayers who itemize can generally claim a deduction for charitable contributions to qualifying organizations. This deduction is typically limited. However, the law now allows taxpayers to apply up to 100% of their adjusted gross income for 2021 qualified contributions.
