Change doesn’t happen alone. Join the fight in Sangamon and Menard Countries

Childhood hunger. Alcohol and drug dependence. Post traumatic stress disorder and other mental health issues. Our neighbors face health challenges every day that impact their daily lives, education and economic stability.

We – the team at United Way of Central Illinois, our partners and supporters like you – surround tough problems like these and we fight.  We fight for every person to have the chance to get healthy – and stay healthy.

Why We Fight

We fight so a person's zip code is never a deterrent to success. Health is not just about what we eat and how we exercise. It’s not only about access to healthy food and quality healthcare. Our fight for the health of our neighbors is about an approach that is holistic and supports individuals every step of the way so they can thrive.

We fight because of people like Candice- a nine year old who had physical and emotional trauma symptoms after being removed from her parents’ care. We fight because strong communities depend on healthy individuals.

How We Fight

We focus on lasting solutions that go beyond short-term charity. These are solutions that start now and continue for generations.

That means bringing together employers, public health experts, economic mobility experts and other nonprofits to support the physical and mental health of every person.

What does that look like? It looks like these programs and services:

  • Lutheran Child and Family Services’ Counseling Program

  • Senior Services of Central Illinois’ Senior Connection and Transport Program

  • SIU Center for Family Medicine’s CIRCLe 2-1-1 Program

Who We Fight For

Access to services, support and resources to get healthy and stay healthy are important for everyone. Infants, teenagers, working adults, veterans and retirees. Our programs reach everyone who needs help.

But change doesn’t happen alone. Help improve the lives of people in our community by supporting United Way of Central Illinois.
