When a child finds a book they love, it can be magical! Books open doors to new ideas, new thoughts, new worlds. Since launching Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, United Way of Central Illinois has distributed more than 143,000 books to help children in Sangamon County share the joy of reading at home.
This holiday season consider giving the gift of reading to a child in our community. We’re proud of the success of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, but we can do more. Nearly 900 children in our community are waiting to receive their first book.
Your gift helps provide one new book each month to children throughout our community from birth to age 5 whose parents enrolled them.
These colorful, age appropriate books are delivered directly to the child and include family engagement activities to promote childhood development and family involvement.
There is no charge, fee or donation required or expected to enroll in the program; and every child in our community is eligible because, like you, we believe every child deserves the opportunity for a more hopeful future..
Each gift of just $25 provides a full year of books (12 total) for one child, and a gift of as little as $10 a month can provide books to five children.
This holiday season, help kids fall in love with books and fuel a love of literacy among kids in our community.
