The Shining Light Award recognizes a volunteer who has made a significant impact on the community and has been an inspiration to other volunteers. A week hasn’t gone by at Olympics IN - Tippecanoe County without Lynne Buckley-Noble’s service and hard work playing an integral role. She serves on the board of directors and has developed many projects on behalf of the organization. Lynne helped adopt a hole at a local golf club to set up golf clinics for the athletes. She is a unified partner for the golf team, with her fluency in American Sign Language giving athletes a voice at practices. Beyond her leadership in this area, Lynne has developed and grown Purdue’s Polar Plunge to be consistently ranked as the #1 College Campus Plunge and the first Plunge to raise over $100,000 for Special Olympics Indiana. She herself has raised over $4,000 annually for Plunges over the last few years. Beyond all this work, Lynne has also developed and promoted the Unified Fitness Club - giving members of Special Olympics the opportunity to exercise year-round. Creating new, unique events and sacrificing her time and talents have created immense positive impact for Special Olympics IN - Tippecanoe County.
