United Way of the Midlands partners with The COMET, Uber and Lyft

Rideshare services transport Midlands residents to COVID-19 vaccination sites

United Way of the Midlands partnered with The Central Midlands Regional Transit Authority (The COMET), Uber and Lyft to increase transportation access to COVID-19 vaccination sites as part of Richland and Lexington County’s Don’t Miss Your Shot campaign.

“This partnership will reduce transportation barriers that many residents of the Midlands face daily,” said Sara Fawcett, President and CEO of United Way of the Midlands.

The COMET reports, “Participants can get access to up to four free rides (up to $15 each trip) to and from vaccination appointments. Any amount over $15 will be automatically charged to the user’s debit or credit card on file with the user’s Uber or Lyft account.”

“United Way is pleased to partner with rideshare companies to ensure Midlands residents get access to COVID-19 vaccination appointments, so we can continue to create a healthier community,” said Fawcett.
